CHILDREN'S MUSIC GIVEAWAY.

It's been a few years now since I've been in charge of the music selection in our car. Gone are the days of listening to the radio as I run around town.

I blame this mostly on my mom who is a kindergarten teacher and has provided us with all sorts of music that appeals only to kid ears. My daughter loves all of it. It takes only a few seconds of being in the car before she asks for "my songs please." I on the other hand have wanted to gauge my eyes out on a few occasions as we have listened over and over and over again to the same happy tunes. Sometimes those CD's magically disappear.

Well a while ago, my mom picked up this CD of Primary songs produced by Clive Romney. And, surprisingly for the kid genre it's quite good. Each year a new CD is produced to accompany the Primary theme for the year. We've enjoyed both the 2009 and 2010 albums.

My favorite however is 2009. Have you heard "The Family is of God"? I have never served in Primary and so I hadn't heard this new song (is it really even that new?). The moment I heard the words, I loved it.

A Mother's purpose is to care, prepare. To nurture and to strengthen all her children. She teaches children to obey, to pray. To love and serve in the family.
Chorus: God gave us families to help us become what He wants us to be--This is how He shares His love, for the family is of God.

So, to spread the love of happy and tolerable children's music I'm giving away a copy of the 2009 album entitled "My Eternal Family". I think you'll really like it, and your kids too.

Leave a comment on this post to enter the giveaway and tell me, do your kids force your hand and have you listen to their music? If so, have you found any that you like?

Brooke was in Aleena's car and she said "hey, your car plays kid music!" So no, we don't listen to kid music in the car. Most of the time we don't listen to anything. But we love the primary songs and play them at home. I just have the primary song book on cd.

Cohen does the same thing as Hannah. I always hear "No! My music mom!" I've started turning the volume down in the front so I don't have to listen to it as much, but I still get all the songs stuck in my head.

Natalie actually really likes Ingrid michaelson so I feel pretty lucky. But we've definitely had our share of disney tunes in the car. I'd love to get a copy of that cd. And if I don't win it I'll probably still try to get it for us.

Annika has her own playlists on our iPod. We don't have to be in the car though - almost everyday she asks to listen to her princess songs. They Might Be Giants and Barenaked Ladies have some fun kid albums. Annika thinks the song "7 8 9 " (7 ate 9) is hilarious.

So far Max likes and sings along to all my music. Probably because I don't even have much kid music (maybe we need some).

There is however a lullaby cd I really love, but it is more for quiet time:

and this is my very favorite track from it (I basically cry every time I hear it):

Natalie is just starting to forcefully request to listen to her music in the car. She loves the "Ultimate Disney Princess Collection" CD as well as the LDS Primary CD's. We also love Songs for a Mormon Child.

E-this is a great idea. So glad you've started this blog.

I'm the music leader in primary and have been amazed at all the great songs they've come up with since I was a kid.

Interestingly, the Church changed the schedule for primary this year, adding an extra five minutes to singing time. When I hear the primary kids talk about the songs and the words they remember, it reinforces in my mind the importance of listening to good, uplifting music.

My kids don't love church music...even Primary songs...at least in the car. I make them suffer through MoTab or other churchy music I like every once in a while. I'm glad to hear about these fun options!

So I know I'm too late for the giveaway...I don't know how I missed it, but I'll have to check this out. We love the "Songs for a Mormon Child" CD...it's totally old school stuff that we use to listen to when we were little. I love it...makes me happy. Sadie likes it too, but I'm realizing how long it's been since we listened to it. My favorite song is "Family Night" on that one.

P.S. I have a quote I just read yesterday and I immediately thought of your blog. I'll send it to you through a FB message or something...
