Like you, I'm sure, we've been following closely the tragedy that took place in Japan over the weekend. It is amazing how life can change in an instant. After seeing so many horrifying photos and learning of the details of the destruction I was so happy when Jimmy forwarded me this op-ed piece he came across.
Unlike similar circumstances of Hurricane Katrina, and in Haiti, there have been no signs of looting or other obscene acts that often accompany these situations. In fact, the article said that some supermarkets were even cutting prices and vending machine owners were giving out free drinks as people try and survive. It is situations like these that make me reflect on how I might handle extreme adversity.
I think we can all learn something from these good people in Japan.
