Hope you had a great Labor Day. We had a fun visit to This is the Place State Park up Emigration Canyon in SLC, and a pic-nic from Corner Bakery (a Dallas favorite of mine that recently opened in Salt Lake). It was my first official visit, to the state park that is, and we saw probably an eighth of what they have to offer. Give my oldest a few more years and I think a day up there would be right up her alley. It's always so inspiring to realize how rich our Mormon heritage really is. Those pioneers were some amazing people.

Now to begin a short week. Love those.

In my internet perusing I have come across a few good reads over the past few weeks and wanted to pass them along to you. If you get a moment, check them out.

Asking Jane: I stumbled across this brilliant site a few days ago and have almost read the entire thing. Jane is an LDS mother of eleven and answers reader parenting questions. From her posts, it is evident that she is a loving, caring and fully committed mama. Take a look at what she has to say about, pre-school, loving discipline, and her Christmas traditions. I'll definitely be adding Jane to my reader list.

Ambrosia Girl: I came across Ambrosia Girl last year while working on an invitation for a Relief Society activity. She is quite the designer and many of her designs are used for Church functions. And, she offers some downloads. So, if you're looking to get fancy for primary, her site is a great place to start. I'd definitely show up to a Relief Society activity if the invitation was this cute.

The Cure for Gospel Guilt: A Mormon Times article summarizing a class given by Robert Millet at BYU's recent Education Week. Guilt seems to be quite prevalent amongst Mormon mothers and I thought his perspective was interesting.

If you get a chance to look at any of these, I'd love to hear your feedback.

Erin, I loved all of those sites! Thanks for sharing! I'm the primary president here, so I am sure I will find a use for plenty of things on Ambrosia Girl, and the parenting style of 'Asking Jane" is right up my alley. I love the summary of Brother Millet's talk as well. I think I'll try to find the whole thing. Thanks again.

I'm working my way through Jane's archives, and I can't get enough. Once I'm done with that I'll head over to Brother Millet's talk. I love this site--I just wish we were talking about all of this stuff on your couch while our girls play!

Glad you are liking Asking Jane. For me, it's nice hearing others perspectives on mothering, especially from someone with so much experience.

Thanks for the nice words, Katie. Most days I think what the heck am I doing trying to write about motherhood when it is such a challenge at times.
