THE REAL DEAL.

Photobucket
Have you spent any time with the Mormon Channel? I came across it a few months ago when my husband gifted me a new iPod Touch. While trying to download some Church related apps I discovered some podcasts of interviews with a few of the apostles via the Mormon Channel.

From their website:

"The Mormon Channel is the official radio station of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The channel originates from Temple Square in Salt Lake City, Utah and broadcasts 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

You can listen to the Mormon Channel live online anytime at radio.lds.org. There are also downloads and podcasts of content available at the same address. A widget for social networking sites and blogs is also now available."

Anyways, one day last week,  amidst folding what felt like forty-seven loads of laundry, I clicked over to the Mormon Channel and discovered an interview with Sister Beck and her two daughters that was really insightful. It always fascinates me to hear the leadership of the Church speak in a more down-to-earth manner than we hear from the pulpit. She and her daughters talked candidly of their life together, about raising children and about being the General Relief Society President of the Church.

Did you know that Sister Beck struggled to get her kids to play the piano? True story, these are real people we're talking about.

Anyways, if you get a moment (I listened to it in two different sittings as it is quite long), I highly recommend this, and if you get the chance, leave me a comment and let me know what you thought.

A favorite quote from the interview:

"Let us be parents while they're (referring to our children) young, so that we can be friends when they are older."

Aahhh I'm trying to listen to it and for some reason it gives me a "The page cannot be found" screen. Bah. I love her and now I just want to listen to it. I wonder why that's happening. I get to the "Listen to Episode 15" link, click on it, and nada.

Fantastic interview! I'm only half-way through (after 65 interruptions), but I love it. Thanks for sharing! I especially enjoyed the story of the mother who learned to find joy in her daily life...instead of planning to laugh about it ten years later. My only resolution this year is to find joy.

Did you ever get to hear in Mary Anne? I just finally finished listening to it tonight and it is so full of good stuff. Hope it works.
